The Advanced Study of Khmer (ASK) Language and Culture, is intensive eight-week training in Khmer language and culture held in Cambodia (Phnom-Penh/Siem Reap). ASK Program will increase the number of linguistically competent Khmer speaking professionals across the United States and internationally. ASK will promote scholarly cooperation, cultural and socio-economic understanding between Cambodia, Southeast Asian, USA, and the world.

General Study Abroad Program at their own institution:
College Credit: The ASK training courses are equivalent to one year level courses at UHM. It offers 6 credits for the Advanced Level, 10 credits for the Intermediate Level, and 10 credits for the First Year Level. Each level has a total of 120 hours of language instruction in the classroom setting; 84 hours of scheduled for hands-on activities, NGOs, and field-trip excursions); and 15-20 hours (of the individual tutorial with tutor or instructor). These credits at UHM are transferrable to other universities.
